Ethical Alternatives for Every Spring 2018 Trend
The biggest “problem” people have with ethical fashion is it’s just not cool enough. It’s not hip, it’s not fresh, it’s not edgy. Sure back in the day the only ethical options out there were poorly made scratchy af organic cotton pants. Those days are long gone. Today, ethical fashion is quickly outgrowing its niche market and joining the ranks of high fashion. Don’t believe me? That’s ok, believe Elle Magazine.
When preparing my capsule wardrobe I became curious as to what trends would pop up this Spring. I’m not usually much of a trend follower, but if I was only going to have 37 pieces of clothing for 3 months I wanted to be able to stay somewhat relevant. That’s when I found Elle’s Comprehensive Guide to the Biggest Trends of Spring 2018. I glanced through them, some spring trends I liked and some trends I’ll let other’s enjoy, but a thought kept nagging at me...could I find ethical alternatives for these runway pieces? Or is it as most people fear, that dressing ethically means giving up your trendiness altogether?
In order for ethical fashion to truly gain wide appeal, it must be cool. Period. That’s why I’m happy to report that I found extremely cool extremely ethical options for every single trend that’s popping this Spring. Do any of these spring trends pop out at you? Which of them makes your heart happy?
